Itinerary

Day 1Arrival Bagdogra Airport (IXB) and transfer to Darjeeling

At arrival you be shuttled to Darjeeling via Kurseong where guests can stop over for a nice warm cup of premium Darjeeling tea while enjoying a panoramic view of the hills. A few hours’ drive later we arrive in Darjeeling, one of the most magnificent hill resorts in the world. After checking-in at the hotel, guests are free to explore the town on their own.

Restaurants/Pubs to check out: Dekling or Kunga (near Clubside), Keventer’s, Joye’s Pub, Glenary’s and The Buzz

For shopping one can visit Habib Mallick and Sons at Chowrasta, Mahakal Market and The Rink Mall

Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2 Darjeeling

After morning breakfast will go for sightseeing at 7 spots. We will visit the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, PNZ Zoological Park (closed on Thursday), Tibetan Refugee Centre (closed on Sunday), Japanese Temple and Peace Pagoda. Later evening will return to hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 3 Darjeeling

Early morning 04:00 AM will head toward Tiger Hill, a place famous for sunrise over Mt. Kanchendzonga. On our way back we will visit the Ghoom Monastery and Batasia Loop (The Batasia Loop was an engineering marvel of its time. It is a spiral railway created to lower the gradient of ascent of the Toy Train. At this point, the track spirals around over itself through a tunnel). Later we will head back to hotel for breakfast.

Post Breakfast we will enjoy Train Ride from Darjeeling to Ghoom and return back to Darjeeling. Rest of the day is free to explore the town.

Day 4Excursion to Mirik Lake

Later breakfast we will leave for a day excursion to man-made Sumendu Lake (known as Mirik Lake). Mirik is famous for its orange orchards, cardamom plantations and tea estates. After lunch, on the way back we visit Pashupati, a small town in the Indo-Nepal border where guests can go shopping. We arrive in Darjeeling by evening.

Day 5Darjeeling to Pelling

After breakfast we transfer to Pelling. One can enjoy the spectacular Eastern Himalayan Range from Pelling. On arrival check-in into the hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 6Pelling

After breakfast we start for a full day tour which includes Pemayangtse Monastery, Rimbi Water Falls, and Kanchenjunga falls, Khecheopalri Lake, Darap Village, Rimbi Rock Garden, Rabdentse Ruins, New Helipad & Kanchenjunga view Tower. After the tour we return to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 7 Excursion to Yuksom

After Breakfast we head out for a tour covering: Dubdi Monastery, Norbughang Coronation Throne, Kartok Monastery. After the tour we return to the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 8Pelling to Ravangla via Temi Tea Estate

After breakfast we leave for Ravangla, via Temi Tea Estate. The only Tea Estate in Sikkikm. One can enjoy the spectacular Eastern Himalayan Range from Ravangla. On arrival we check-in into the hotel. Later you are free to explore the village on their own.

Day 9Ravangla to Gangtok via Rumtek Monastery

After breakfast transfer to Gangtok, via Rumtek Monastery. The monastery, the largest in Sikkim, is home to the monks community, the place where they perform the sacred rituals and practices of the Karma Kagyu lineage.

Many sacred objects are housed within the complex, and one of the most magnificent is the Golden Stupa, which contains the precious relics of His Holiness the Sixteenth Karmapa. Opposite that building is the shedra, or college, Karma Shri Nalanda Institute for Higher Buddhist Studies. Members of the lay sangha practice in the community lhakhang just outside the walls of the monastery complex.

Surrounding Rumtek Dharma Chakra Centre is the stupa walkway, where monks, pilgrims, and visitors alike perform kora. The remaining part of the day is free for guests to explore Gangtok all by themselves.

Our recommendation:

Visit to MG Marg is recommended.

To sample the local culinary fare, one can visit restaurant/pubs like 9’INE Native Cuisine, Thalung (Beef momo and beef noodle soup is their speciality), Café Live & Loud (in Enchey Compound), Lounge 31A

Shopaholics can spend time at MG Marg and Lal Bazar.

One can visit Curio Craft Gallery on PS Road and Sikkim Handloom & Handicraft at Zero Point to buy traditional Buddhist and Sikkimese art work, handloom, bamboo works, etc

Day 10Gangtok City Tour

After breakfast we proceed towards 3 points. Hanuman Tok, Ganesh Tok and Tashi view point. Later we head towards 7 points covering Jhakri Falls, Ranka Monastery, Research Institute of Tibetology (closed on Sundays and Govt. holidays), Directorate of Handicraft & Handloom (closed on Sunday and Govt. holidays) and Flower Show. In the evening we return to the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 11Kalimpong City Tour

After breakfast we for sightseeing covering the Dello Hill, Science City, Pine View Nursery, Mangal Dham, and Buddhist monastery. We return to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 12 Kalimpong to Bagdogra Airport (IXB)

Bid adieu to the hills and take back memories to tell tales of the amazing Eastern Himalayan sojourn to folks back home.
